Solent Therapeutic Services is committed to providing therapeutic support for traumatised children and young people in the Hampshire and Dorset area. 

Having extensive experience in working with children and young people who have experienced abuse and trauma, we work in the Hampshire and Dorset area with birth families, adoptive families and children in foster care. We have worked for over 11 years with children who have suffered abuse and neglect as well as with children who have experienced domestic violence, bereavement, bullying and divorce.

With training in Play Therapy, Theraplay and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy we offer individual sessions for the child as well as regularly meeting adoptive and foster families to build attachments and promote empathic, attuned responses in the parent-child relationship.

Therapeutic work is tailored to the individual child’s needs and techniques are adapted according to the presenting concerns of each child. To ensure a holistic approach regular meetings are held with the child’s parents, school and social worker and consultations are provided to assist understanding of the child’s behaviours and emotional needs.
